IPL 2021 Franchise Owners, Captains, and Coach Details

Indian premier league brings together the world’s greatest cricketers. But success doesn’t revolve around players only. Each team has a former cricketer serving as either a coach or other support staff. In addition, most of the players have played in the IPL before joining the franchises in various capacities. Therefore, here is a look at the eight franchises’ owners, captains, and coaches.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

Delhi Capitals franchise was established in 2008 as Delhi Daredevils. Later on 5th December 2018, it changed its name to Delhi Capitals. The SW Group and GMR Group jointly own the franchise. The DC Indian Premier League 2021 team captain will be Rishabh Pant.

Surprisingly the Delhi capitals have not named their batting and fielding coach for the IPL schedule 2021.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

The Chennai Super Kings is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was founded in 2008 and has acquired three IPL titles in 2010, 2011, and 2018. The owners of the Chennai Super Kings are the Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited. The CSK Indian Premier League 2021 team will be under the captaincy of IPL winner Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings franchise is based in Mohali and was founded in 2008. Punjab is jointly owned by Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman, and Karan Paul. The owners paid a whopping 76 million dollars to acquire the franchise. Ahead of the IPL 2021 schedule, the coach is a former India spinner, Anil Kumble. KL Rahul will lead Punjab Indian Premier League 2021 team as the captain.

The former Royal Challengers Bangalore was later appointed as head coach last year. In addition, he is also the director of cricket operations. His deputy is the former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy flower.

 Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

RCB is based in Bangalore, Karnataka. The franchise is named after a liquor brand royal challenge of united spirits. The owners of this franchise are the Royal Challengers’ sports private Ltd. Virat Kohli will lead the team for the tenth time this year.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

The franchise was established in 2012 and is based in Hyderabad, Telangana. Sunrisers Hyderabad owners are Kalanithi Maran of the SUN Group. They played their first IPL in 2013. David Warner led the first six games of this season as the captain. But in the IPL second Phase in the UAE, Kane Williams will lead the team.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians’ establishment was in 2008. They play their home matches in Wankhede stadium Mumbai. However, it’s one of the most successful franchises in the IPL. The team has won five IPL titles in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019, and 2020. The franchise owners are the Reliance Tv networks. The team’s captain is the talented batsman Rohit Sharma.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight riders franchise owners are the famous Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, actress Juhi Chawla and her spouse Jay Mehta. Eoin Morgan will lead the squad in the IPL 2021 schedule.

Former limited-overs skipper Kyle Mills will be the fast-bowling coach for the first time in the IPL second phase in UAE. And former sprinter Chris Donaldson as the strength and conditioning coach.


The Rajasthan Royals team franchise base is in Jaipur. Manoj Badale and Lachlan Murdoch own Rajasthan Royals. In the 2021 IPL, the team will be under the captaincy of Sanju Samson.
