Assateague Island, Maryland and Virginia
Starting on the east coast, this 37-mile-long barrier island is best known for its feral horses and Assateague Lighthouse. It’s an area of sandy beaches, salt marshes, maritime forests, and coastal bays.
The feral horse population is known as the Assateague horse in Maryland and the Chincoteague Pony in Virginia. They are a popular tourist attraction and subjects for photography.
The lighthouse is 142 feet tall and located on the southern end of the island. The candy cane striped structure can be toured.

Willis Tower Skydeck, Chicago, Illinois
If you want the best view of the city, The Skydeck is the place to be. You are also able to see four states from this vantage point!
One hundred and three floors up is The Ledge, the most popular attraction for visitors. These glass boxes extend 4.3 feet out from the Skydeck landing, suspending visitors 1,353 feet in the air with mere glass below them. If you aren’t feeling quite so adventurous, you can simply sit back and observe from the windows.
Willis Tower is twelfth-tallest building in the world and second-tallest building in North America and the Western Hemisphere, standing at 1,450 feet and 110 stories tall.
Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville, Tennessee
If you’re passing through checking out Knoxville real estate, head west to Nashville to experience the world’s most extensive music and artifacts collection through the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame preserves and tells the history of country music through artifacts, photographs, text panels, recorded sound, vintage video, and interactive touchscreens.
It includes the 776-seat CMA Theater; the Taylor Swift Education Center; one of the country’s oldest letterpress print shops, Hatch Show Print; and Historic RCA Studio B (located on Music Row), Nashville’s oldest surviving recording studio that has seen the likes of Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, and many others.
Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona
Whether you’re taking a drive-through or have the time to walk, this National Park will offer some astounding sights. There are fossils, badlands, buttes and mesas, ancient petroglyphs, wildlife and wildflowers, and vast vistas for more than a hundred miles.
The Rainbow Forest is filled with colorful petrified wood, while the Painted Desert is a vast landscape that boasts rocks in every hue, from deep lavenders to rich reds. There are petroglyphs of Newspaper Rock and the ruined village of Puerco Pueblo, as well as the crystal quartz embedded petrified logs in the Crystal Forest.
Salvation Mountain, California
This unique space is a hillside visionary environment created by local resident Leonard Knight.
The artwork here is varied, made of adobe bricks, discarded windows, automobile parts, and thousands of gallons of paint. It bears numerous murals and paintings with Christian sayings.
There is also a “museum,” a semi-dome structure that contains several small items given to Leonard by friends and visitors. To this day, visitors still stop to leave an offering to the now passed-on creator of this creative space.
